Project Description
New Cystic Fibrosis Unit and Refurbishment of St. Michael’s Ward at Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children, Crumlin
This project involved a new Cystic Fibrosis Unit containing four single isolation rooms with ensuite bathrooms and rooming-in facilities for parents. The unit also contained a lounge/kitchenette for parents, a nurse station and storage areas. It was linked back to St. Michael’s Ward where a complete renovation and refit was completed providing for 22 new state of the art beds, cardiac and respiratory equipment and a playroom for physically and mentally disabled patients together with a revamped parent facility.

Project Description
BMT Unit and St John’s Ward
The new state of the art Bone Marrow transplant Unit contained a 4 bedded unit together with 7 new single rooms, all complete with ensuites and room in facilities for parents. There was also a new play zone. The upgrade in St. John’s Ward provided meeting/conference facilities, a redesigned drop-in area, medication/treatment room, central station for nurses and corridor. The existing fire alarm, nurse call and medical gas alarm systems were kept live and fully functional during the course of the works.
The Electrical Installation included the following:
- Distribution Boards and Sub Main cables
- Lighting and Emergency Lighting including intelligent lighting control systems
- General Service & Small power Including Bedhead Trunking
- Commercial IT structured cabling systems and infrastructure
- Cabling to Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Door Access System
- Fire Alarm System
